Promise David makes Premier League move as Brighton loan Union SG striker
Canada-Nigeria forward Promise David has joined Brighton from Union Saint-Gilloise on loan, completing a move to the Premier League club until 30 June 2027.
The 25-year-old centre-forward arrives in England after helping Union Saint-Gilloise win the Belgian Cup in 2026 and the Belgian title in the 2024-25 season. He also played a part in the club’s Belgian Super Cup victories in 2024-25 and 2026-27.
David joined Union Saint-Gilloise from Estonian side Kalju FC in July 2024 for €600,000. His time in Belgium brought major domestic honours, with the striker now moving on after two seasons with the club.
A player of Canadian and Nigerian nationality, David was born in Brampton, Ontario, and stands 1.95m tall. He is a right-footed centre-forward, giving Brighton another option in the central attacking role.
His recent record includes four appearances at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored once and provided one assist. He also made appearances in the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds, scoring once in two matches.
David’s professional career began with Vaughan Azzurri, before he moved to Croatia’s NK Trnje Zagreb in 2019. He subsequently played for Tulsa and Valletta before joining Sirens FC in 2022. His move to Kalju FC followed in February 2023, ahead of the transfer to Union Saint-Gilloise.
Brighton have taken the forward on loan from the Belgian club, with the move recorded on 18 August 2026. David’s arrival adds a striker with experience of domestic competition in Belgium and European qualifying football to the club’s squad.
The loan transfer places David at Brighton through 30 June 2027, when he is scheduled to return to Union Saint-Gilloise.
