Jessic Ngankam linked with Energie Cottbus switch as Frankfurt future comes under scrutiny
Jessic Ngankam, the German-Cameroonian forward at Eintracht Frankfurt, is being linked with a move to Energie Cottbus in the 2. Bundesliga.
The 26-year-old centre-forward has been with Frankfurt since joining the club on 14 July 2023, but a potential move to Cottbus would see him leave a Bundesliga side for a club competing in Germany’s second tier. No transfer fee or probability has been attached to the rumour.
Ngankam remains under contract with Frankfurt until 30 June 2028, meaning any move would require an agreement between the clubs rather than the player becoming available as a free agent. His current market value is listed at €700,000.
The Berlin-born striker has made 68 Bundesliga appearances during his career, scoring eight goals and providing four assists. He has also featured in the DFB-Pokal, scoring twice in three appearances, and has previously played in the 2. Bundesliga, where he recorded four goals in 27 matches.
Ngankam’s development included a successful spell at Hertha BSC’s youth academy, where he helped win the German Under-19 Bundesliga title in 2017-18 and finished as the competition’s top scorer the following season with 25 goals. He has represented both Germany and Cameroon by nationality, while his senior club career has remained in Germany.
For now, Ngankam’s contractual status remains unchanged, with Frankfurt holding his registration through the end of June 2028.
