Lecco bring in Tunisian-Italian goalkeeper Thomas Zouaghi from Caldiero

Tunisian-Italian goalkeeper Thomas Zouaghi has joined Lecco from Caldiero on a free transfer, strengthening the Serie C club’s goalkeeping options.

The 21-year-old has signed a contract with Lecco until 30 June 2027. Zouaghi, who stands at 1.94m and is right-footed, moves to the club after spending the 2025-26 season with Caldiero in Serie D.

Zouaghi’s switch represents a step up to Serie C after one season with Caldiero. Before that, he was part of the Verona Under-20 squad, having moved there from Sassuolo Under-20 in July 2024.

The goalkeeper began his youth career at Virtus Verona before joining Chievo’s youth setup in December 2018. He then moved to Sassuolo in August 2021, progressing through the club’s under-17, under-18 and under-20 teams.

During his time with Sassuolo Under-18, Zouaghi was part of the side that won the Viareggio tournament in the 2022-23 season. He subsequently stepped up to the club’s Under-20 team before leaving for Verona.

Lecco become the latest club in Zouaghi’s career after his successive moves through the Italian youth and lower-league system. His arrival gives the club a goalkeeper with experience across several stages of the Italian football structure, from academy football to Serie D.

The transfer was recorded on 17 August 2026, with no fee payable for the move from Caldiero. Zouaghi’s previous switch, from Verona Under-20 to Caldiero in July 2025, was also completed without a transfer fee.

Zouaghi has now officially begun his Lecco career, with his contract running through the end of June 2027.
