Persijap sign Ghana centre-back Samuel Ofori in free-transfer deal
Ghanaian centre-back Samuel Ofori has joined Indonesian club Persijap from Cambodia’s Kirivong FC on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old defender moves to Persijap, who compete in Indonesia’s Super League, after one season with Kirivong in the Cambodian Premier League. Ofori becomes the latest addition to the club’s defensive options following a career that has taken him across Asia.
Ofori is a right-footed central defender born in Accra. He stands 1.85m tall and has recorded 27 appearances, two goals and four assists in the Cambodian Premier League. His performances in the competition came during his spell with Kirivong, where he completed his most recent campaign before making the switch to Indonesia.
The move continues Ofori’s run of transfers between Asian clubs. Before joining Kirivong on a free transfer in July 2025, he had spent time with fellow Tajik club Khosilot, also arriving without a transfer fee. He joined Khosilot from Ravshan Kulob in February 2025, having previously played for Ravshan after leaving The Dolphins FC in January 2022.
During his time with Ravshan, Ofori won the Tajikistan Super Cup in the 2022-23 season. He also has experience in continental competition, featuring in both the AFC Cup and the AFC Champions League Two. Across those tournaments, he made 11 appearances.
His career record also includes 73 appearances and two goals in the Vysshaya Liga, alongside two appearances in the Tajik Supercup. Those matches add to the defender’s experience in domestic and regional competition as he begins a new chapter in Indonesia.
Ofori’s arrival gives Persijap a defender with experience in Cambodia and Tajikistan, as well as a background in continental football. His market value is listed at €150,000, while the transfer itself carries no fee.
The move from Kirivong FC to Persijap was completed on 17 August 2026.
