Bologna explore move for Baltika centre-back Nathan Gassama

Nathan Gassama, the Mali-France centre-back at Baltika, has been linked with a move to Bologna in Serie A.

The 25-year-old has started all four of Baltika’s Premier Liga matches this season, playing 340 minutes and registering two assists. He has not scored and has received no cards in the league campaign.

Gassama joined Baltika from Slavia Sofia in August 2023 in a €500,000 transfer and has since been part of the club’s rise to the Russian top flight. Baltika won the Russian second-tier title in 2025, and Gassama remains with the Kaliningrad club as it competes in the Premier Liga.

A move to Bologna would represent a return to one of Europe’s major leagues for a player who began his senior career in France. Gassama came through the youth system at Evry before joining Nantes, later spending time with Troyes B and SO Cholet.

The defender’s current contract with Baltika runs until 30 June 2028, meaning any potential transfer would come before its expiry rather than involving a free move. His market value is listed at €1.5m.

Gassama’s current season record is his most productive in the available Premier Liga statistics, with two assists from four appearances. He also remains part of Baltika’s starting side while the rumour of a move to Bologna develops.
