Egypt’s Emam Ashour attracts interest from Saudi Pro League newcomers NEOM

Egyptian midfielder Emam Ashour has been linked with a move from Al Ahly to Saudi Pro League club NEOM SC.

The 28-year-old central midfielder is under contract with the Egyptian champions until 30 June 2028, meaning any transfer would require an agreement between the two clubs. No fee or probability has been established for the proposed move.

Ashour joined Al Ahly from Danish side Midtjylland in July 2023 and has since helped the club win the CAF Champions League and two Egyptian league titles. He also won the Egyptian Premier League’s top-scorer award in 2024-25 after scoring 13 goals.

He has made five appearances for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, starting every match and scoring twice. Ashour’s recent international involvement comes after an extensive domestic career, during which he has recorded 157 Premier League appearances, 36 goals and 25 assists.

NEOM are competing in the Saudi Pro League, while Ashour remains registered with Al Ahly. His current market value is listed at €5m, although that figure does not represent a confirmed valuation or transfer offer.

Ashour’s contract and established role at Al Ahly mean the rumoured move remains at the speculation stage.
