Senegalese teenager Mohamed Dabo loaned to Al-Khor just days after Al-Shamal move
Senegalese midfielder Mohamed Dabo has been loaned to Al-Khor for the 2026-27 season, just six days after joining Qatari top-flight side Al-Shamal.
The 18-year-old arrived at Al-Shamal on 10 August but will now spend the campaign with Al-Khor, who compete in QSL2, as he looks to gain regular first-team football and continue his development.
Al-Khor officially confirmed the move on Sunday, announcing that Dabo had joined the club on loan from Al-Shamal ahead of the new season.
The decision means the Senegalese youngster’s stay at Al-Shamal has been remarkably brief. After completing his move to the Qatari first division club, he was quickly sent elsewhere to continue his development.
Al-Shamal have opted to allow Dabo to spend the season with Al-Khor, where the midfielder is expected to have greater opportunities to play.
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, while the exact duration of the loan was also not provided beyond the 2026-27 season.
For Dabo, the move represents another opportunity to gain experience in Qatari football.
Al-Khor are based in the northern Qatari city of the same name and will compete in QSL2 during the upcoming campaign.
The club are preparing for their opening league fixture on 23 August, when they will face Al-Markhiya at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium.
Dabo’s arrival gives Al-Khor another option as they prepare for their campaign, while the move provides the teenager with the chance to adapt to senior football and potentially secure more minutes.
The decision to send him out on loan so soon after his arrival at Al-Shamal underlines the club’s intention to provide the young midfielder with an environment where he can continue developing through regular competitive football.
Rather than remaining with Al-Shamal without a guaranteed role, Dabo will now begin the next stage of his career with Al-Khor.
At just 18, the Senegalese midfielder is still at an early stage of his development, and the loan could provide valuable experience during the 2026-27 season.
His immediate focus will now shift to Al-Khor and their opening fixture against Al-Markhiya.
The move also gives Dabo the opportunity to make a quick transition from his recent arrival at Al-Shamal to a new challenge with another Qatari club.
While the terms of the agreement remain undisclosed, Al-Khor have confirmed that the Senegalese youngster will spend the upcoming season with them on loan.
