Boakye’s Saint-Etienne form puts Ghana winger on radar of three clubs
Augustine Boakye’s strong campaign with AS Saint-Etienne has attracted interest from Anderlecht, Norwich City and Wrexham, although none of the three clubs has yet made a formal offer for the Ghana international.
The 25-year-old winger enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 season in Ligue 2, scoring six goals and providing nine assists in 36 appearances for Saint-Etienne. His performances also earned him a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, although he did not feature in any of the team’s matches.
Boakye joined the French club two years ago from Austria in a deal worth about €3m. Since then, his value has risen significantly, with Transfermarkt now estimating his worth at €6m.
The player remains under contract with AS Saint-Etienne until June 2028, giving the club a strong negotiating position as the transfer window approaches its conclusion. According to information from Foot Mercato, Anderlecht, Norwich City and Wrexham are all monitoring his situation closely.
None of those clubs has submitted an official bid to Saint-Etienne, but Boakye’s progress has made him an attractive option for teams looking to strengthen their attack.
He has already started the opening two matches of the current season and made an early contribution by providing an assist against Sochaux. His involvement at the beginning of the campaign underlines his importance to the Saint-Etienne side.
Boakye, for his part, appears settled in Saint-Etienne and has not indicated that he is actively seeking a move. He is nevertheless keeping an eye on any opportunities that may arise before the transfer market closes.
Saint-Etienne are not expected to let one of their most valued attacking players leave cheaply. Exclusive sources cited by Africafoot report that the club will not consider selling Boakye for just any price.
The player’s contract, his recent contribution and his improved market valuation mean any interested club would likely need to make a substantial offer to persuade AS Saint-Etienne to agree to a transfer.
Saint-Etienne will soon return to Ligue 2 action when they face Grenoble in their third match of the French championship season.
The published betting odds for the fixture list AS Saint-Etienne as favourites at 1.35, with a draw priced at 4.40 and a Grenoble victory at 7.00. The odds are provided by 1xbet, which also advertises a downloadable service.
