Barcelona’s Hamza Abdelkarim scores three minutes after coming on against Basel

Barcelona forward Hamza Abdelkarim scored his side’s second goal against Basel just three minutes after being introduced as a substitute in their friendly in Switzerland.

The match is part of Barcelona’s preparations for the new La Liga season, with the Catalan club facing Basel in Switzerland as their pre-season schedule continues.

Abdelkarim began the game on the bench before being brought on at the start of the second half, replacing Anthony Gordon. He made an immediate impact, finding the net in the 48th minute to extend Barcelona’s advantage.

The goal came after Abdelkarim reacted quickly to a cross from the left by new signing Karim Adeyemi. The Barcelona player followed up superbly to finish the move and register the club’s second goal of the match.

It was Abdelkarim’s third goal in Barcelona’s friendly matches. He had previously scored twice in the club’s game against English side Birmingham City, taking his pre-season total to three.

His latest effort continued an impressive run in front of goal during Barcelona’s preparations, although he had again started as a substitute before making his mark after the interval.

Barcelona’s friendly against Basel is being played in Switzerland as the team builds towards the start of the Spanish league campaign. Abdelkarim’s contribution came shortly after half-time and gave the match another notable moment, with Adeyemi also involved in the move after joining the club.

Barcelona’s next scheduled fixture is against Al Ahly on 19 August in the Joan Gamper Trophy. The meeting with the Egyptian club will form part of the club’s preparations before the new La Liga season begins.

For Abdelkarim, the goal against Basel adds to the two he scored against Birmingham City and further highlights his effectiveness in Barcelona’s pre-season matches. His strike also ensured that his introduction at the beginning of the second half had an immediate influence on the contest.
