Abdallah El Shahat undergoes surgery after suffering heart attack

Abdallah El Shahat, the former assistant coach of Abu Qir Fertilizers, has suffered a heart attack and undergone surgery.

The former Ismaily midfielder required an operation after being taken ill. No further details about his condition have been provided.

El Shahat most recently worked as assistant coach at Abu Qir Fertilizers, where he played a part in the club’s promotion to the Egyptian Premier League this season alongside Amir Azmy Magdy.

The pair helped guide Abu Qir Fertilizers through their promotion campaign, with the club securing a place in Egypt’s top flight.

El Shahat has held coaching roles at several clubs during his career. He previously served as assistant coach at Ismaily, Pyramids and Abu Qir Fertilizers, while also managing El Dakhleya in the Egyptian Professional League.

Before moving into coaching, El Shahat spent his playing career in Egyptian football. He represented Ismaily, ENPPI, Al Masry, El Nasr Lel Taadeen and Al Assiouty.

The midfielder made 213 appearances during his career, scoring 23 goals and providing nine assists.

He also played twice for Egypt in 2011, featuring in friendly internationals against Tanzania and Uganda.

El Shahat’s professional career therefore included both domestic club football and international involvement before he moved into coaching. His work with Abu Qir Fertilizers, alongside Amir Azmy Magdy, culminated in the club earning promotion to the Egyptian Premier League this season.

The news of his heart attack comes after his involvement in that promotion campaign and follows a coaching career that has taken him across a number of Egyptian clubs, including Ismaily, Pyramids and Abu Qir Fertilizers.
