Modern Sport complete Ghana winger Michael Ephson signing from Heart of Lions

Ghana winger Michael Ephson has joined Modern Sport from Heart of Lions, completing a move to the Egyptian Premier League club.

The 22-year-old right winger switches clubs after less than a year with Heart of Lions, having joined the Ghanaian side from FC Samartex on 24 August 2025. His move to Modern Sport was completed on 15 August 2026.

Ephson brings domestic and continental experience to his new club. He has made 68 Premier League appearances during his career, scoring 13 goals, while also featuring twice in the CAF Champions League and finding the net once.

His record gives him 70 senior appearances across the two competitions, with 14 goals in total. Ephson’s Premier League scoring rate stands at one goal every 312 minutes, while his CAF Champions League goal came after 159 minutes of action.

The transfer takes Ephson from one Premier League environment to another, although Modern Sport are based in Egypt and Heart of Lions in Ghana. He becomes part of Modern Sport’s attacking group as a player whose main position is on the right side of the attack.

Ephson was born on 5 March 2004 and is listed at 1.80m. His career path has included spells with FC Samartex and Heart of Lions before his latest move abroad.

He joins Modern Sport with a recorded market value of €75,000, having previously been valued at €50,000 when he moved to Heart of Lions. No contract length has been stated for his time with the Egyptian club.

The completed transfer gives Ephson his first recorded move outside Ghana and places him in a new national football setting after his appearances in Ghana’s top flight and the CAF Champions League.

Ephson is now a Modern Sport player after completing his move from Heart of Lions on 15 August 2026.
