Bank El Ahly secure Egypt defender Hatem Sukar on contract until 2029
Egypt left-back Hatem Sukar has joined Bank El Ahly from Ismaily in a €26,000 transfer, becoming the club’s latest defensive addition ahead of the new season.
The 24-year-old has signed a contract running until 30 June 2029 after completing his move on 15 August 2026. Sukar, who was born in Cairo, is a left-footed defender whose preferred position is left-back.
Sukar arrives at Bank El Ahly after two-and-a-half years with Ismaily. He joined Ismaily from Zamalek in January 2024 on a free transfer and went on to establish experience in Egypt’s top division.
During his time with Ismaily, Sukar made 42 Premier League appearances and also featured in the relegation play-off, Egypt Cup, CAF Confederation Cup and Egyptian League Cup. He scored once in the relegation play-off and once in the Egypt Cup.
His move to Bank El Ahly marks a return to a club competing in the Premier League, where he will continue his career after leaving Ismaily. The transfer fee is €26,000, while his current market value is listed at €50,000.
Sukar began his senior career with Zamalek after progressing from the club’s under-21 side. He was part of the Zamalek squad that won the Egyptian championship in the 2021-22 season and the CAF Confederation Cup in 2023-24.
Those honours came before his switch to Ismaily, where he added senior match experience across domestic and continental competitions. His record includes six Egypt Cup appearances, two in the CAF Confederation Cup and one in the Egyptian League Cup, alongside his Premier League outings.
Bank El Ahly have now secured Sukar’s services through the end of the 2028-29 campaign, with the defender joining from Ismaily for €26,000.
