Al-Zawraa consider move for Al Ahly forward Mohamed Sherif

Egyptian forward Mohamed Sherif is being linked with a move from Al Ahly to Iraq Stars League club Al-Zawraa.

The 30-year-old returned to Al Ahly from Saudi Pro League side Al-Khaleej in July 2025 and is now the subject of reported interest from the Iraqi club. Sherif’s current contract with the Egyptian champions runs until 30 June 2030.

Sherif has a market value of €500,000 and previously spent two seasons at Al-Khaleej, where he made 55 Saudi Pro League appearances and scored nine goals. He left Al Ahly for the Saudi club in August 2023 in a transfer reported at €1.37m before returning to Cairo on a free transfer.

The centre-forward has made 191 appearances in the Egyptian Premier League, scoring 60 goals and providing 21 assists. He has also scored 15 times in 44 CAF Champions League appearances.

Sherif was part of the Al Ahly side that won the Egyptian Super Cup in the 2025-26 season, adding to a record of domestic and continental success with the club. He has won the CAF Champions League twice, the Egyptian league three times and the CAF Super Cup twice.

Al-Zawraa play in the Iraq Stars League, but no transfer fee or agreement has been reported. Sherif remains an Al Ahly player under a long-term contract.
