Crystal Palace weigh move for club legend Wilfried Zaha after training return
Crystal Palace are seriously considering a move to bring Wilfried Zaha back to Selhurst Park, with the former Ivory Coast international currently a free agent.
The 33-year-old forward has been without a club since leaving Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer and has spent the past several weeks training at Crystal Palace’s academy base at Copers Cope. Zaha has been working alongside his personal fitness coach as he maintains his condition while waiting to decide on his next destination.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace are carefully examining the possibility of re-signing one of the most influential players in their history. No formal offer has yet been accepted, but the London club are understood to be weighing up their options and a return for Zaha remains a genuine possibility.
Zaha came through Crystal Palace’s academy and represented the club across two lengthy spells. In total, he made 458 appearances for the Eagles and scored 90 goals.
His performances, longevity and connection with the club have established him as one of Crystal Palace’s most recognisable figures. A return would therefore represent more than a short-term move for an experienced attacker, with Zaha already familiar with the club, its supporters and the surroundings at Selhurst Park.
The Ivory Coast international’s estimated market value is €3.5m, although his current status as a free agent means Crystal Palace would not need to negotiate a transfer fee with another club. The club have not yet committed to a deal, and there is no indication that an agreement has been finalised.
Zaha’s departure from Charlotte FC followed his latest spell in MLS. Since then, his training at Copers Cope has allowed him to remain prepared while he considers his next career step. Crystal Palace’s interest could now provide an opportunity for the forward to continue his career at the club where he first made his name.
Crystal Palace are due to begin their English league campaign against Everton. For that fixture, betting company 1xbet lists Crystal Palace at odds of 3.30 to win, with a draw also priced at 3.30 and Everton available at 2.00.
Any potential decision on Zaha is expected to be considered alongside the club’s preparations for the new season. For now, the player continues to train at Crystal Palace’s facilities, while the possibility of a second return to Selhurst Park remains under review.
