Club Africain explore Tunisian Ligue 1 deal for Mali centre-back Ismaila Simpara

Malian centre-back Ismaila Simpara is the subject of a reported move from Stade Malien to Club Africain, who are considering a deal for the 28-year-old.

Simpara returned to Stade Malien on 3 October 2025 after leaving Mauritanian side ASC SNIM, completing the move as a free agent. The defender is now being linked with a switch to Club Africain, who play in Tunisia’s Ligue 1.

The right-footed defender has made 13 appearances in the CAF Champions League, scoring once, and has also played in the CAF Confederation Cup. His recorded career statistics include 12 appearances in Morocco’s Botola Pro Inwi and one appearance in the Moroccan Cup.

Simpara previously spent time with Stade Malien before moving to Senegalese club Generation Foot in 2021. He returned to the Malian side in 2022, then joined Moroccan club Moghreb Tetouan in September 2023 before moving to ASC SNIM the following year.

Born on 13 June 1998, Simpara stands at 1.87m and has represented Stade Malien during a career that has included football in Mali, Senegal, Mauritania and Morocco. No transfer fee or contract terms have been disclosed for the proposed move, while Simpara remains a Stade Malien player.
