Barcelona consider move for Leipzig’s French-Angolan defender Castello Lukeba
French-Angolan centre-back Castello Lukeba is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with Barcelona from current club RB Leipzig.
Lukeba, 23, joined Leipzig from Lyon on 11 August 2023 for a reported €30m fee and has since established himself in the Bundesliga. He has made 81 league appearances in Germany, scoring twice, and was part of the Leipzig side that won the German Super Cup in the 2023-24 season.
His current market value is listed at €50m, while his contract with the Bundesliga club runs until 30 June 2029. That long-term agreement gives Leipzig a strong contractual position should Barcelona decide to pursue the defender.
Lukeba began his senior career at Lyon, making 58 Ligue 1 appearances before moving to Germany. He has also played in the Champions League and Europa League during his club career.
The defender represented France at the 2024 Olympic Games, where the team finished runners-up. Born in Lyon, Lukeba has represented both France and Angola in the nationality records associated with his profile.
There is no indication that a transfer has been agreed, and the reported link remains at the rumour stage. Lukeba remains a Leipzig player under contract through June 2029.
