Wilfried Kanga: Ivory Coast-France striker joins Al-Fateh from Gent for €4.1m
Ivory Coast-France centre-forward Wilfried Kanga has joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Fateh from Belgian side KAA Gent for €4.1m.
The 28-year-old striker completes the move after one season with Gent, having signed for the Belgian club from Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb on 1 July 2025 for €1.2m. Kanga’s transfer to Al-Fateh was completed on 13 August 2026.
Kanga began the 2026-27 campaign with one appearance in the qualifying rounds of the Uefa Conference League. He also featured in Gent’s squad for the Jupiler Pro League but had not made a league appearance before switching to Saudi Arabia.
Born in Montreuil-sous-Bois, France, Kanga is listed as holding Ivorian and French nationality. He stands at 1.89m and is a right-footed centre-forward.
His move to Al-Fateh adds another chapter to a career that has included spells across France, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Croatia. Kanga joined Dinamo Zagreb from Hertha BSC in January 2025, after returning from a loan spell with Cardiff.
Before that, he spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Standard Liege from Hertha. He had joined the German club from Swiss side Young Boys in July 2022 for €5m, following a period in which he won the Swiss championship with Young Boys during the 2022-23 season.
Kanga started his senior career with Angers after progressing through Paris Saint-Germain’s youth system. He also spent time on loan at US Creteil-Lusitanos during his development.
The transfer represents a move from Belgium’s top flight to the Saudi Pro League, with Al-Fateh paying more than Kanga’s listed €3m market value for the completed deal. His arrival follows a campaign in which he had made one competitive appearance for Gent at the start of the new season.
Kanga has now left KAA Gent and completed his €4.1m transfer to Al-Fateh.
