Al Ahly agree deal to sign Ghazl El Mahalla teenager Mahmoud Salah

Al Ahly have reached a final agreement with Ghazl El Mahalla over the financial terms of Mahmoud Salah’s transfer during the summer window.

FilGoal.com understands that Al Ahly will pay 35m Egyptian pounds for the 18-year-old, with the fee divided into two instalments. The agreement also includes a further 10m pounds in add-ons, as well as a 25% sell-on clause for Ghazl El Mahalla if Salah is transferred again in the future.

Salah will waive 2m pounds in outstanding payments owed to him by Ghazl El Mahalla as part of the move.

Nader Khalil, Ghazl El Mahalla’s sporting adviser, helped mediate between the two clubs during the negotiations in an effort to bridge the gap between their positions.

A source at Ghazl El Mahalla had previously told FilGoal.com that the two clubs were close to reaching an agreement over the financial package.

Earlier in the talks, a source at Al Ahly told FilGoal.com: “We are working to complete Mahmoud Salah’s transfer from Ghazl El Mahalla and negotiations are still ongoing. The figures being reported in the media are largely inaccurate.”

Salah was left out of Ghazl El Mahalla’s friendly against Sporting as preparations continued for his expected move to Al Ahly. Ghazl El Mahalla won the match 6-0 ahead of the start of next season.

Al Ahly also recorded a victory in their first friendly of their training camp in Spain, beating Spanish side Badalona 3-0.

Salah made 28 appearances for Ghazl El Mahalla last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists. His performances have now earned him a move to Al Ahly, subject to the completion of the final procedures surrounding the transfer.

The teenager is currently with Egypt’s under-20 national team, managed by Wael Reyad. The side are preparing to compete in the North Africa qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations Under-20 tournament.

The agreement brings to an end negotiations over the main financial details of Salah’s move, with the total package consisting of the initial 35m pounds, potential add-ons worth 10m pounds and the future sell-on percentage retained by Ghazl El Mahalla.
