UAE reach Gulf Cup semi-finals with 3-0 win over Bahrain

The United Arab Emirates became the third team to reach the semi-finals of Gulf Cup 27 after beating Bahrain 3-0.

The 27th edition of the Gulf Cup is being hosted by Saudi Arabia, with the UAE securing their progress from the group stage in convincing fashion.

Othman Camara opened the scoring for the UAE in the 30th minute, giving them the lead before half-time.

Substitute Guilherme Bala doubled their advantage in the 66th minute, while Ali Saleh completed the victory with a third goal in the 88th minute.

The result means the UAE progress alongside Qatar, who secured their semi-final place with a 1-0 victory over Yemen.

The two sides will meet in the final group-stage round to decide who finishes top of the section.

Saudi Arabia had already qualified from Group A. The final semi-final place from that group remains between Iraq and Oman.

The UAE have reached the Gulf Cup semi-finals for the first time after being eliminated in the group stage in each of the past three editions.

They have previously won the competition twice, lifting the trophy in 2007 and 2013.
