Genclerbirligi consider move for Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo

Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig side Genclerbirligi.

The 28-year-old central midfielder became available after leaving Real Oviedo on 1 July 2026, having spent two seasons with the Spanish club. A potential move to Genclerbirligi would give Sibo a route back into domestic league football after his departure from Oviedo.

Sibo made 26 La Liga appearances during his career and has also played 73 times in La Liga 2. He joined Oviedo from SD Amorebieta in July 2024 in a free transfer and featured in Spain’s second tier during his time with the club.

The Ghana international has also been involved at the 2026 World Cup, appearing in all four of Ghana’s possible matches. He started 75% of those games and played 69% of the available minutes, without scoring or registering an assist.

Sibo began his senior career in Ghana with Cheetah FC before moving to Armenia, where he joined Banants in 2017. He later spent time with Watford, including loan spells at KF Skenderbeu and UD Ibiza, before continuing his career in Spain.

Genclerbirligi’s reported interest comes while Sibo remains unattached, with the midfielder’s next club yet to be confirmed.
