FC Arges add French-Congolese striker Gabriel Charpentier after Cracovia exit

French-Congolese centre-forward Gabriel Charpentier has joined Romanian SuperLiga club FC Arges on a free transfer from Polish side Cracovia.

The 27-year-old, who was born in Pointe-Noire, Congo, moves to Romania after one season with Cracovia. He joined the Ekstraklasa club from Italian side Parma in September 2025, also on a free transfer.

Charpentier will wear the number nine shirt at FC Arges and arrives as a right-footed striker standing 1.88m tall. His move was completed on 13 August 2026, with his market value listed at €500,000.

The forward has built much of his senior career in Italy, where he played for Genoa, Frosinone, Ascoli, Reggina, Avellino and Parma. He also spent time with Latvian club Spartaks and began his senior football with Nantes B after progressing from the French club’s under-19 side.

Charpentier’s most productive record has come in Serie B, where he made 56 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists. He also recorded 10 Serie A appearances, scoring once and contributing three assists.

His career includes a Serie B title with Parma in the 2023-24 season. Parma became his club after a move from Genoa in August 2022, with that transfer carrying a €1.4m fee. Before joining Genoa, he spent the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Frosinone and had earlier temporary spells with Ascoli and Reggina.

Charpentier’s move to FC Arges represents his first transfer to Romania and adds a forward with experience across several European leagues. His record also includes appearances in Poland’s Ekstraklasa, Latvia’s Virsliga and Italy’s top three divisions.
