Baladiya strengthen midfield with Egypt’s Mahmoud Afroto
Egyptian central midfielder Mahmoud Afroto has joined Baladiya from El Sekka SC on a free transfer, adding a 27-year-old player to the club’s midfield for the 2026-27 season.
Afroto’s move was completed on 12 August 2026 after his departure from El Sekka, where he had been registered following a spell away from the club during the previous campaign. The transfer carries no fee, with the midfielder switching clubs without a payment being recorded between the two Egyptian sides.
The move gives Baladiya an experienced domestic midfielder who operates in the centre of the pitch. Afroto was born on 1 January 1999 and represents Egypt at club level, with his career to date taking place in the Egyptian game.
Before arriving at Baladiya, Afroto spent part of the 2025-26 season with Abo Qir on loan from El Sekka. That temporary move began on 1 January 2026 and ended on 30 June, when he returned to El Sekka before completing his switch to Baladiya.
His time with El Sekka began in September 2024, when he joined from Mansoura in a transfer valued at €28,000. He subsequently became part of the club’s squad before moving temporarily to Abo Qir for the second half of the 2025-26 season.
Afroto made one appearance in the Egypt Cup during the period covered by his recent career record, playing the full 90 minutes. He now moves on to a new chapter with Baladiya, having completed a sequence of domestic transfers involving Mansoura, El Sekka and Abo Qir.
Baladiya have therefore secured the services of the Egyptian midfielder on a free transfer from El Sekka SC.
