Brian Madjo sets youngest scorer mark as Aston Villa make history in UEFA Super Cup

At 17 years and 212 days old, Aston Villa forward Brian Madjo became the youngest player to score in the history of the UEFA Super Cup, according to Opta, after finding the net against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The England youth international, who is of Cameroonian descent, struck to bring Aston Villa level at 1-1 and give the club a valuable equaliser in a major European meeting. Although Aston Villa ultimately lost 2-1, Madjo’s goal secured his place in the competition’s record books.

Madjo was born in Enfield on 12 January 2009 and began his football development in Luxembourg. He played for Marisca Mersch before moving to RU Luxembourg, gaining early experience away from England before continuing his progress at a higher level.

In 2023, he joined FC Metz to continue and complete his development. His progress eventually led to a first-team debut on 17 August 2025, when he appeared in a Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg.

A few months later, his performances earned him his first professional contract. The teenager’s development had already attracted attention, and Aston Villa soon moved to secure his services.

The Premier League club signed Madjo on 12 January 2026, paying a reported fee of 12m euros. It was a significant investment in a player who was still only 17, but one that reflected Aston Villa’s belief in his ability and long-term potential.

Madjo is regarded as a powerful and technically capable centre-forward, with the strength to compete in physical battles. His overall profile has already led to comparisons with Romelu Lukaku, particularly because of his combination of physical presence and attacking ability.
