Alassane Sy: Senegal midfielder joins FC Metz from Generation Foot
Senegal midfielder Alassane Sy has joined FC Metz from Generation Foot, moving from his homeland to France in a completed transfer.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder made the switch on 11 August 2026, with Metz bringing him into their squad as they compete in Ligue 2. Sy’s arrival represents a move from Senegalese football to the French professional game, with the player now registered at the club.
Sy, born on 2 February 2005, operates primarily in defensive midfield. He is right-footed and stands 1.75m tall, giving Metz a young central midfielder for the next stage of his career.
Before joining Metz, Sy played for Generation Foot. His time at the Senegalese club followed an earlier spell with Generation U20, from which he moved to Generation Foot on 19 October 2023.
Generation Foot has been a significant part of Sy’s recent development, and the move to Metz places him in a different football environment in France. The transfer also connects the midfielder with a club competing in Ligue 2 after he had previously played for a side listed in Senegal’s Ligue 1 structure.
Sy’s move was completed on 11 August, the date recorded for his arrival at Metz. No transfer fee has been disclosed, and no contract expiry date has been announced.
The Senegal international’s profile at Metz is centred on his role in defensive midfield, while his right-footed preference provides a clear indication of how he is likely to operate within the club’s midfield group. His nationality and previous experience with Generation Foot mark him out as another player moving from Senegalese football into the French system.
For Metz, the signing adds a 21-year-old midfielder to their squad during the 2026-27 season. For Sy, it is his first recorded move outside Senegal and the latest step in a career that began with Generation U20 before progressing through Generation Foot.
Alassane Sy completed his move from Generation Foot to FC Metz on 11 August 2026.
