Hull City agree deal to sign Nobel Mendy from Rayo Vallecano

Hull City have reached a full agreement with Rayo Vallecano for the transfer of Senegal international Nobel Mendy, with the 21-year-old defender now travelling to England ahead of the move being officially confirmed.

Fabrizio Romano reports that negotiations between the two clubs have been completed, bringing Mendy’s time in the Spanish league close to an end. The centre-back is expected to sign a five-year contract with the English club, keeping him at Hull City until 2031.

Mendy has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Rayo Vallecano. His move represents a significant investment for Hull City as the club prepares for the new campaign and seeks to strengthen its squad.

The transfer fee is understood to be €25m in total, according to Foot Mercato. As part of the agreement, Rayo Vallecano will also retain a 12.5% sell-on clause, meaning the Spanish club would be entitled to that percentage of any future transfer fee received for Mendy.

The deal will also provide a financial return for Real Betis, where Mendy previously played. Under the terms of an earlier agreement, the Andalusian club is due 20% of the total transfer fee.

Mendy was born in Guediawaye and is valued at €7.5m by Transfermarkt. Despite that valuation, the overall package agreed between Hull City and Rayo Vallecano is considerably higher, reflecting the scale of the investment involved in securing the defender on a long-term contract.

The transfer is being completed shortly before Hull City’s opening match in the English league, when they are due to face Manchester United. Mendy’s arrival is therefore taking place as the club prepares for a high-profile fixture at the start of its competitive schedule.

The betting company 1xbet lists Hull City at 6.25 to win that match. A draw is priced at 4.33, while Manchester United are rated the favourites at 1.44.

Mendy’s move will be formally completed once the remaining administrative steps have been concluded. For now, the defender is on his way to England after Rayo Vallecano and Hull City settled the central terms of the agreement.
