Renato Veiga: Galatasaray linked with Villarreal defender
Portugal and Cape Verde defender Renato Veiga is being linked with a move from Villarreal to Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.
Veiga, 23, joined Villarreal from Chelsea on 22 August 2025 in a deal worth €24.5m and has a contract with the Spanish club until 30 June 2032. The centre-back’s potential move to Galatasaray would come only a year after his arrival in La Liga.
The left-footed defender began the 2025-26 season at Villarreal after spending part of the previous campaign on loan at Juventus. He returned to Chelsea in June 2025 before completing his permanent transfer to Villarreal.
Veiga has also represented Portugal and Cape Verde at international level and was part of the Portugal side that won the UEFA Nations League in 2025. He previously won the Conference League with Chelsea during the 2024-25 season.
His career has included spells with Sporting’s youth and reserve sides, Augsburg and Basel before his move to Chelsea in July 2024. Chelsea signed him from Basel for €14m, after he had joined the Swiss club from Sporting B in August 2023.
Villarreal currently value Veiga at €30m, while the reported interest from Galatasaray comes with the defender under a long-term contract at the Spanish club.
