Celta Vigo step up pursuit of PSV winger Couhaib Driouech amid Rangers interest

Celta Vigo have made an offer for PSV winger Couhaib Driouech as the Spanish club joins Rangers and Red Bull Salzburg in the race to sign the 24-year-old Morocco international.

Sources close to the negotiations say Celta Vigo are sufficiently keen on Driouech to have submitted a proposal, although the value of that offer has not been disclosed. It is also unclear how much PSV are demanding for the player, who remains under contract with the Eindhoven club until mid-2029.

Driouech’s expected departure from PSV became increasingly clear last week. Rangers had already made contact with the Dutch club, while Red Bull Salzburg also asked about the winger’s availability.

Rangers had moved close to an agreement with PSV, but the player is understood to favour a move to southern Europe. That preference has opened the door for Celta Vigo, who had already shown interest in Driouech earlier this summer and have now followed that initial approach with a formal offer.

The latest development means the player’s future is now being contested by clubs from several different leagues. Rangers were the first side to establish a strong negotiating position with PSV, but Celta Vigo’s decision to make an offer has changed the situation.

No agreement has yet been reached with either Celta Vigo or Rangers, and the precise financial terms under discussion remain unknown. PSV will have to decide whether the Spanish club’s proposal meets their valuation of Driouech, despite the winger having several years remaining on his current contract.

Driouech is still tied to PSV until the middle of 2029, giving the Dutch champions a strong contractual position in any negotiations. However, the player’s preference for a move to southern Europe could prove significant as the interested clubs seek to secure his signature.

Red Bull Salzburg have also registered their interest, although the Austrian club’s involvement has so far consisted of making enquiries rather than submitting a known offer.

Celta Vigo’s proposal is therefore the clearest indication yet that the club intends to compete seriously for Driouech. The Spanish side’s interest is not new, but its formal approach now places it directly in the transfer contest alongside Rangers, who had appeared close to reaching an agreement with PSV.

The final decision will depend on the negotiations between PSV and the clubs involved, as well as Driouech’s preference. For now, the Morocco international’s wish to continue his career in southern Europe has complicated Rangers’ attempt to bring him to the club.
