Matthias Jaissle poised for Newcastle United role despite Al-Ahli delay

Matthias Jaissle’s proposed move to Newcastle United remains on course, despite a delay caused by administrative procedures involving his former club, Al-Ahli Saudi FC.

The German coach resigned from his position at Al-Ahli in recent days, bringing an end to his time with the Saudi club after a period in which he guided them to a number of trophies.

Jaissle is now in advanced talks to become Newcastle United’s next manager and replace Eddie Howe. However, the appointment has not yet been officially confirmed because some paperwork connected with Al-Ahli still needs to be completed.

British journalist Lee Ryder, who is close to Newcastle United, said the delay was linked to formal procedures at the Saudi club. He also stressed that the negotiations were progressing normally and that the deal was expected to be concluded.

Jaissle is currently in La Manga, Spain, where he is waiting for the remaining administrative and legal requirements relating to the move to be finalised. Newcastle United are then expected to announce his appointment.

The club is anticipated to resolve the situation within the next few days, allowing Jaissle to begin his first managerial role in the Premier League.

His departure leaves Al-Ahli searching for a new head coach before the start of the new season. The Saudi club must now continue its search while the final details of Jaissle’s move to England are completed.

The uncertainty surrounding the German’s future has continued despite his resignation, with Newcastle United yet to make the agreement official. The delay has therefore been attributed to documentation rather than any breakdown in the negotiations.

Jaissle’s spell at Al-Ahli ended after a period that included several trophy successes, and his next appointment would represent a significant step in his career. Newcastle United are working towards confirming him as Howe’s successor, with the final administrative processes now standing between the coach and his first Premier League assignment.
