Juventus sign Bosnia and Herzegovina prospect Kerim Alajbegovic from Bayer Leverkusen

Juventus have signed 19-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international Kerim Alajbegovic from Bayer Leverkusen, with the winger agreeing a contract that runs until 30 June 2031.

Alajbegovic becomes Juventus’ third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Zeki Celik and Jeff Ekatour. The Italian club confirmed the deal on Sunday, completing the move after a season in which the player impressed during his time with Austrian side Salzburg.

The winger spent last season at Salzburg, where he made 44 appearances in all competitions. He scored 13 goals and provided four assists during that campaign, performances which strengthened his reputation as one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s promising young players.

Bayer Leverkusen held an option to buy Alajbegovic at the end of his spell with Salzburg. After the season concluded, the German club activated that clause and paid €8m to secure his registration.

Leverkusen then sold the player to Juventus for €32m, allowing the Turin club to complete a significant investment in a footballer who has experience in Austria and Germany despite his age.

Alajbegovic is capable of operating as a winger and had previously attracted attention through his performances for Salzburg before moving to Bayer Leverkusen. His ability to contribute both goals and assists was reflected in his statistics from last season, when he featured 44 times and directly contributed to 17 goals.

The deal gives Juventus a long-term option in the wide areas, with the club committing to Alajbegovic through the end of June 2031. The player’s contract length underlines the club’s intention to develop him as part of its future squad.

Juventus finished sixth in the Italian league last season. They are managed by Luciano Spalletti, who will now have Alajbegovic available as the club continues to reshape its squad during the summer transfer window.

The transfer is the latest step in Alajbegovic’s rapid progression. He emerged with Salzburg, completed a move to Bayer Leverkusen after the German club exercised its purchase option, and has now joined Juventus in a deal worth €32m.

His arrival also takes Juventus’ number of summer additions to three, alongside Zeki Celik and Jeff Ekatour. At 19, Alajbegovic is the youngest of the trio and has signed the longest-term agreement, with his Juventus contract set to remain in force until 30 June 2031.
