Vozinha’s Chile arrival revives Colo-Colo move after Moroccan interest
Vozinha’s proposed move to the Moroccan league appears to have suffered a major setback after the Cape Verde goalkeeper was pictured travelling to Chile to complete a transfer to Colo-Colo.
The 40-year-old had been strongly linked with a move to Renaissance Berkane in recent days, but an image shared by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has cast fresh doubt over that possibility.
Romano posted a photograph of Vozinha inside an aeroplane on his official X account, writing: “Vozinha on his way to Chile to complete his move to Colo-Colo.”
The development has reopened uncertainty over the experienced goalkeeper’s future. Only recently, Vozinha appeared close to joining Renaissance Berkane, with negotiations between the player and the Moroccan club understood to have reached an advanced stage.
According to Globo Esporte, citing journalist Rafael Bozio, Renaissance Berkane had been working to settle the final details of a contract with Vozinha. The club’s interest formed part of a wider effort to strengthen its squad.
Renaissance Berkane’s pursuit of the goalkeeper also came as the club held talks with Bubista, the head coach of the Cape Verde national team, who led the side at the World Cup.
Colo-Colo had previously announced that it had reached an agreement with Vozinha. The Chilean club posted a photograph of the goalkeeper on its official social media accounts alongside the message: “Welcome, we are waiting for you at the Monumental Stadium.”
However, uncertainty surrounded the transfer during the past few days after Vozinha’s arrival in Chile was postponed on more than one occasion. Those delays raised the prospect that he could change his destination and instead move to the Moroccan league.
Earlier reports suggested Vozinha was waiting for a formal offer from Renaissance Berkane before making a final decision about his next club. His appearance now on a flight to Chile, combined with Romano’s report that he is travelling to complete a move to Colo-Colo, indicates that the Moroccan transfer may have collapsed or moved further away from completion.
Vozinha’s arrival in Chile and the completion of the formalities of his move to Colo-Colo will therefore be the key next steps in the goalkeeper’s future. The situation marks a sharp change from only a few days ago, when he appeared set to begin a new chapter in the Moroccan league.
For now, the latest evidence points towards a return to the previously announced Colo-Colo move, although the transfer remains centred on the goalkeeper completing the final procedures with the Chilean club.
