Ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya set to stay at Marumo Gallants

Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya will remain with Marumo Gallants for the new season, despite appearing to have been released by the club at the end of the previous campaign.

The 29-year-old left-back returned to Marumo Gallants this week and is expected to continue with the club, according to a report confirmed by Soccer Laduma.

Ntiya-Ntiya was not included when the team reported for pre-season training around 17 June. His unexpected return on Monday surprised some of his team-mates, who had believed the former Kaizer Chiefs defender was no longer part of the squad.

“He was not a part of the team when we returned for pre-season around the 17th last month (June), but we were surprised when he came back on Monday,” said one of Ntiya-Ntiya’s teammates.

The defender joined Marumo Gallants six months ago on a contract running until the end of the 2025/26 season. That agreement also included an option to extend his stay for another year.

Ntiya-Ntiya made nine appearances for Marumo Gallants during the second half of last season after moving to the club. His return means he is set to remain available to the side as preparations continue for the new campaign.

His agent, Jazzman Mahlakgane, confirmed that the player is back at Marumo Gallants and will continue with the club into the new season.

“He’s there, that’s all I can say,” said Mahlakgane.

Marumo Gallants have not publicly explained the circumstances surrounding Ntiya-Ntiya’s return. Soccer Laduma said it contacted the club for comment but had not received a response at the time of publication.

The development comes after uncertainty over the futures of several players at the club during the close season. Ntiya-Ntiya had appeared to be among those who would leave, but his return to training indicates that the option in his contract may now be relevant.

The left-back previously played for Kaizer Chiefs before joining Marumo Gallants. He became part of the squad midway through the 2025/26 season and featured nine times in the second half of the campaign.

Marumo Gallants have also been active in the transfer market, with the club reported to have strengthened its squad by signing 13 new players ahead of the new season. Ntiya-Ntiya’s continued presence adds further defensive depth as the team finalises its preparations.
