Senegal midfielder Ousmane Diakhate joins ES Sahel on free transfer
Senegal midfielder Ousmane Diakhate has joined Tunisia’s ES Sahel from AJEL Rufisque on a free transfer, completing a move that takes the 23-year-old to a new Ligue 1 club.
Diakhate has signed a contract with ES Sahel running until 30 June 2029. The central midfielder joins after two seasons with AJEL Rufisque, where he established himself in Senegal’s top flight.
The 1.90m-tall right-footed player made 30 Ligue 1 appearances during the latest recorded campaign, scoring four goals and providing one assist. His performances came across 2,439 minutes of league football, with Diakhate averaging a goal every 610 minutes.
Born in Dakar, Diakhate began the latest stage of his career at AJEL Rufisque after moving there from Botev II in July 2023. That switch was also completed as a free transfer, following his time with the Bulgarian club.
His move to ES Sahel represents a change of league as well as country, with the Tunisian side becoming the latest club in his career. The transfer was registered on 1 August 2026, with Diakhate joining the squad as a central midfield option.
Diakhate previously spent time with Botev II after joining from Gesfoot in March 2023. He made four appearances in Bulgaria’s second tier during the 2022-23 season, playing 241 minutes.
The Senegalese midfielder’s recorded senior career includes 34 league appearances across his time in Senegal and Bulgaria, with four goals coming during his spell at AJEL Rufisque. His arrival gives ES Sahel a player with recent experience in Ligue 1 and a contract commitment through the end of the 2028-29 season.
Diakhate has now completed his free transfer from AJEL Rufisque to ES Sahel, where he will wear the club’s colours from the 2026-27 season.
