Olympique Akbou sign Niger forward Ibrahim Moussa Harouna from Al-Najaf FC

Niger forward Ibrahim Moussa Harouna has joined Algerian Ligue 1 side Olympique Akbou from Al-Najaf FC.

The 23-year-old centre-forward completed the move on 1 August 2026 after spending the second half of the 2025-26 season with Al-Najaf in Iraq. Harouna’s arrival gives Olympique Akbou another attacking option as they prepare for the new Ligue 1 campaign.

Harouna made 23 appearances in the Iraq Stars League during his time in Iraq, scoring three goals and providing one assist. He also scored twice in two UAE President’s Cup appearances and played once in the Iraq FA Cup.

He moved to Al-Najaf from fellow Iraqi club Diyala on 20 January 2026. Before that, Harouna joined Diyala from Al-Hamriyah in the United Arab Emirates in July 2025, completing that transfer as a free agent.

The striker began his recorded senior career with Ivorian club SOL FC d’Abobo before moving to Cameroon’s Coton Sport FC in August 2023. He subsequently left Coton Sport for Al-Hamriyah in February 2024, beginning a run of regular moves across clubs in Africa and the Middle East.

Born in Niamey, Harouna stands 1.88m tall and operates primarily through the centre of the attack. His move to Olympique Akbou represents a return to African club football after his spells in Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

Olympique Akbou have now secured Harouna’s move from Al-Najaf, with the Nigerien striker joining the Algerian club on 1 August 2026.
