Vozinha closes in on RS Berkane move after Colo-Colo deal takes unexpected turn

Vozinha is now close to joining Moroccan club RS Berkane, in a surprise development that has overturned what appeared to be an imminent move to Chilean side Colo-Colo.

The Cape Verde goalkeeper had been expected to complete a transfer to Colo-Colo after the club’s president, Anibal Mosa, publicly announced that his arrival for a medical examination was close.

Colo-Colo had gone further by posting confirmation of the impending move on its Instagram account. However, the proposed transfer has since changed direction, with Vozinha now set to continue negotiations with RS Berkane.

According to Brazilian newspaper Globo, the Moroccan club managed to prevent the deal with Colo-Colo from going ahead by persuading the goalkeeper, who is currently without a contract, to join them instead.

RS Berkane, described as the Moroccan runners-up, are now negotiating the final details of an agreement with Vozinha’s representatives. The goalkeeper has not travelled to Chile, despite the earlier announcement from Colo-Colo.

The development leaves the Chilean club’s planned signing in doubt and puts RS Berkane in pole position to secure the player. Colo-Colo’s public confirmation had suggested that the transfer was close to completion, but the absence of a completed medical and Vozinha’s failure to fly to Chile allowed the situation to change.

For RS Berkane, the negotiations represent an opportunity to conclude a deal for a goalkeeper who had been expected to join Colo-Colo. The club is now working with Vozinha’s entourage to settle the remaining terms before the move can be finalised.

The situation has unfolded rapidly. Mosa’s announcement had indicated that the player’s medical was imminent, while Colo-Colo’s Instagram post gave the impression that the Chilean club had secured the transfer. Globo’s report, however, says RS Berkane intervened and redirected the free agent towards Morocco.

No agreement with Colo-Colo has been completed, and Vozinha remains in negotiations with RS Berkane. The Moroccan side’s talks with his representatives are at the final-details stage, but the transfer has not yet been formally concluded.
