Barcelona agree deal to sign Club Brugge teenage winger Jesse Bisiou

Barcelona have reached an agreement with Belgian club Club Brugge to sign 18-year-old winger Jesse Bisiou on a contract running until 30 June 2031.

The Catalan club said Bisiou will be officially presented in the coming period, although no financial details of the agreement were disclosed.

Bisiou is regarded as one of Belgium’s most promising young players. He has been recognised for his physical strength, pace and ability to dribble, qualities that have helped him attract attention at both youth and club level.

Born in Belgium on 22 January 2008 to a family of Ghanaian heritage, Bisiou has represented Belgium at every age-group level. His profile rose significantly during the 2025 European Under-17 Championship, when he was selected in the tournament’s best XI despite Belgium being eliminated in the semi-finals.

The winger began his football career with Leuven, where he spent the period from 2014 to 2020. He then moved to Club Brugge, progressing through the club’s youth structure and gaining experience in European competition.

During the past two seasons, Bisiou played in the UEFA Youth League for Club Brugge, making 14 appearances and scoring three goals. Since 2023, he has also featured for Club NXT, Club Brugge’s reserve side.

His time with Club NXT has included 36 appearances in the Belgian second tier, giving him early exposure to senior football and regular competition against older and more experienced players.

The move to Barcelona represents the next step in Bisiou’s development. He will hope to become only the third Belgian player to represent the club’s first team, following Thomas Vermaelen and Fernand Goyvaerts.

Barcelona already have another 18-year-old with Egyptian international experience in their squad in striker Hamza Abdelkarim.

The agreement for Bisiou continues the Spanish club’s focus on recruiting highly rated young players, while offering the Belgian winger the opportunity to continue his progress within one of Europe’s most prominent football academies. His official presentation is expected to take place at a later date, with Barcelona confirming that the formal introduction will follow in the coming period.
