AFC Bournemouth stun Real Sociedad to take 2-0 lead into half-time

AFC Bournemouth produced a dominant first-half display to take a 2-0 lead at Real Sociedad in the opening round of the Europa League.

The Spanish side went into the interval in serious trouble at 45 minutes and one second, despite having enjoyed slightly more possession, with 55% compared with Bournemouth’s 45%.

Bournemouth struck first in the 11th minute when Justin Kluivert finished from A. Truffert’s assist. The goal was reviewed by VAR two minutes later, with the decision confirming that the visitors’ opener should stand.

The English side doubled their advantage in the 20th minute. Rayan found the net after being set up by Alex Scott, leaving Real Sociedad facing a difficult second half.

Bournemouth will begin the next period with a two-goal cushion and a strong position after an efficient opening 45 minutes.
