Carlos Espi vows to give everything to Real Madrid after ‘amazing’ first day

Carlos Espi says he was not expecting the speed of his move to Real Madrid but is determined to make the most of every opportunity at the Spanish club.

The new Real Madrid striker completed his first training session with the club after his move from Levante was announced on Thursday. Espi said he was delighted to begin life at the Santiago Bernabeu and promised to work hard to earn the trust of manager and coaching staff.

“Everything happened very quickly. It is a unique feeling that cannot be described. I am extremely happy, and I will give everything I have for the club,” Espi told Real Madrid’s official television channel.

The 22-year-old said he had been impressed by the welcome he received and by the standards at his new club.

“What I am experiencing now is amazing, and I did not expect it. Everyone here is wonderful, and they welcomed me in an excellent way,” he added.

Espi also spoke positively about his first day at the club, highlighting the facilities and the attention given to players.

“I am very happy with my first day at Real Madrid. The club takes care of the smallest details, and the facilities are incredible,” he said.

Training alongside Real Madrid’s established players and coaching staff was another highlight for the forward.

“Training with all the Real Madrid players and the coaching staff is a unique experience. The coaching staff are always close to us, and that is a great thing,” Espi said.

The striker, who is known for his presence in the penalty area, said he would be ready whenever he was selected.

“I will give my maximum in every opportunity the coach gives me. I am a striker who likes to be inside the penalty area, and I am always ready to take advantage of any chance,” he said.

“The most important thing for me is to give everything I have for Real Madrid and to earn the coach’s trust.”

Espi joined Levante’s youth set-up in the summer of 2022 and quickly established himself, helping the team win the league title. He made his senior debut for the club in February 2024.

He played a key role in Levante’s promotion to La Liga, making 36 appearances in the second division and scoring six goals.

In his first season in Spain’s top flight, Espi played 25 matches and scored 11 goals. That made him Levante’s leading scorer, while he was also named La Liga’s player of the month for March and won the competition’s best under-23 player award at the end of the campaign.

Espi left Levante after making 66 appearances for the first team and scoring 20 goals. He has also represented Spain at under-19 and under-20 level.

His arrival represents Real Madrid’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window. The club have also brought in Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva.
