Wael Ben Othmane has joined Stade Gabesien, with the Tunisia centre-back moving from Libya’s Al-Ta’awon on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old has signed a contract with Stade Gabesien that runs until 30 June 2028. Ben Othmane, who is right-footed, moves to the Tunisian club after one season with Al-Ta’awon.

Ben Othmane joined Al-Ta’awon from Iraqi side Newroz SC on 20 July 2025. Before that, he spent time with Al-Shoulla and Al-Talaba SC, also making a move to Iraq after leaving US Monastir in January 2024.

His career record includes 46 appearances and two goals in Ligue 1, along with 26 appearances, one goal and one assist in the Iraq Stars League. He has also played in the Ligue I Pro Playoff, the Tunisian Cup and the Iraq FA Cup.

The defender began his senior club career with CS Bembla before joining AS Rejiche in July 2019. He moved to US Monastir in January 2023 and later made the switch to Al-Talaba, continuing a career that has included football in Tunisia, Iraq and Libya.

Ben Othmane returns to Tunisia after his spell abroad with Al-Ta’awon, where he was registered in the Libyan Premier League. His arrival gives Stade Gabesien an experienced option in central defence and extends his club career through the 2027-28 season.

The move was completed on 31 July 2026, with Ben Othmane leaving Al-Ta’awon without a transfer fee. He is now contracted to Stade Gabesien until June 2028.
