Real Madrid transfer Victor Valdepenas to Fiorentina with 50% future-sale clause

Real Madrid have completed the transfer of 19-year-old left-back Victor Valdepenas to Fiorentina in a deal worth €8m, with the Spanish club retaining half of the player’s value in any future sale.

Valdepenas, a graduate of Real Madrid’s academy and a member of the club’s Castilla side, has signed a contract with Fiorentina running until 2031.

The agreement was concluded as the two clubs prepare to meet in a friendly on Saturday. Real Madrid confirmed the move in an official statement, bringing an end to Valdepenas’ time at the club after six seasons in its youth system.

“Real Madrid and Fiorentina have reached an agreement for the transfer of our player Victor Valdepenas,” the club said.

“Valdepenas joined Real Madrid in 2018 at the age of 11 and was part of our academy across six youth seasons. During last season, he made his first-team debut and won the UEFA Youth League.

“Real Madrid would like to thank Valdepenas for his commitment throughout these years and wish him and his family every success in this new stage of their lives.”

Real Madrid will receive €8m from the transfer and have secured 50% of the proceeds from any future sale involving the young defender.

Valdepenas made one appearance for Real Madrid’s first team in the Spanish league last season. He featured against Deportivo Alaves under manager Xabi Alonso, who was in charge of the side at the time.

The move represents the next step in the career of a player who spent his formative years at Real Madrid after joining the academy as an 11-year-old. He progressed through the club’s youth teams before becoming part of the Castilla set-up and earning an opportunity with the senior squad.

His first-team appearance came during the previous campaign, while he also helped Real Madrid to success in the UEFA Youth League. Fiorentina have now committed to keeping him at the club through to 2031 as he begins his first senior move away from Spain.

The transfer allows Real Madrid to receive an immediate fee while maintaining a significant financial interest in Valdepenas’ future. The club’s decision to retain half of any eventual sale value means it could benefit further if the left-back moves on from Fiorentina in the years ahead.

The agreement was announced on the eve of Saturday’s friendly between Real Madrid and Fiorentina, adding an extra focus to the meeting between the clubs. Valdepenas’ departure was formally confirmed by Real Madrid through its farewell message, which praised his long-term dedication to the academy and wished him well in Italy.
