Chris Annan joins Central Western on free transfer from Hoi King

Hong Kong-Ghanaian winger Chris Annan has joined Central Western from Hoi King on a free transfer, completing the move on 31 July 2026.

The 48-year-old returns to Central Western after spending the previous season with Hoi King in the Hong Kong First Division. Annan previously represented Central Western before switching to Hoi King in September 2025, also on a free transfer.

Annan is a left winger who favours his right foot. He has built an extensive career in Hong Kong football, making 204 appearances in the Hong Kong Premier League and scoring 57 goals, while also contributing 18 assists. In the Hong Kong First Division, he has recorded 66 goals and 30 assists in 127 appearances.

His return brings a player with a substantial record of domestic success. Annan won the Hong Kong championship three times with Kitchee, in the 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2017-18 seasons. He also helped Kitchee win three Hong Kong Cups and two Hong Kong League Cups, and was part of the club’s Sapling Cup-winning side in 2017-18.

Earlier in his career, Annan won the Hong Kong Cup with Tai Po in 2008-09 and claimed the Hong Kong Senior Challenge Shield with the same club in 2012-13. His other experience includes spells with Eastern, Kitchee, Pegasus, Rangers and Yuen Long.

Annan’s previous spell with Central Western produced two Hong Kong Lower Division Cup triumphs, in 2022-23 and 2023-24. He also won the Hong Kong Second League title during the 2022-23 campaign, adding to a collection of honours gathered across the domestic game.

The winger has also played in continental competition, appearing in the AFC Cup, AFC Champions League qualifying and the AFC Champions League. His recorded career totals include 14 AFC Cup appearances and two appearances in Champions League qualifying.

Central Western compete in the Hong Kong First Division, the same league as Hoi King, meaning Annan remains in familiar surroundings after his return. He joins the club as an experienced attacking player with a long history of goals, assists and domestic trophies in Hong Kong football.

Annan has now completed his return to Central Western from Hoi King as a free agent.
