Sweden and DR Congo winger Filston Mawana has joined Vaxjo Norra IF from Croatian club NK Dubrava ZG on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old completed the move on 31 July 2026, returning to Sweden after his spell in Croatia’s Prva NL. Mawana plays primarily on the left wing and was born in Kinshasa, giving him links to both Sweden and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Mawana leaves NK Dubrava after making three appearances in the Prva NL. His move to Vaxjo Norra IF brings him back into Swedish football, where he has previously featured across several levels of the domestic game.

His past record includes 29 appearances and two goals in Ettan Sodra, while he scored three times in 11 Superettan matches. He also made nine appearances and scored three goals in Ettan Norra, as well as appearing in the Svenska Cupen, where he found the net once in four matches.

Mawana’s earlier career included youth football in Germany and Sweden. He recorded eight goals in 10 appearances in the U17-Bundesliga South/Southwest and registered an assist in 13 U19-Bundesliga S/SW matches. He also scored in both the U19 Allsvenskan Norra and U19 Allsvenskan Slutspelet.

The winger has also played in Sweden’s Allsvenskan and in European competition qualifying, although the available career record does not list senior appearances in either competition. His experience includes football in Sweden, Germany, Croatia and Serbia, with three appearances recorded in Serbia’s Prva NL.

At 1.69m, Mawana brings Vaxjo Norra IF an established wide player whose career has included experience in both attacking and developmental competitions. His strongest recorded scoring return came in the German under-17 league, while his senior record includes goals in the Superettan, Ettan divisions and Svenska Cupen.

Vaxjo Norra IF have now added Mawana to their squad following his departure from NK Dubrava ZG. The transfer was completed as a free move on 31 July 2026.
