Inter City sign Egypt right-back Shams Mohareb on a free transfer

Egyptian right-back Shams Mohareb has joined Inter City from A. Damanhour on a free transfer, completing a move that adds a 29-year-old defender to the club’s squad.

Mohareb’s move was completed on 31 July 2026, with his contract at Inter City running until 30 June 2027. He arrives after one season with A. Damanhour, whom he joined from Makadi on a free transfer in July 2025.

The defender made one appearance in the Egypt Cup during the 2025-26 campaign, playing the full 90 minutes. He now continues his career with Inter City after moving between several Egyptian clubs in recent seasons.

Mohareb joined Makadi from Kafr El Sheikh in September 2023, having previously switched from Dekernes to Kafr El Sheikh on a free transfer in September 2022. Before that, he moved from A. Damanhour to Dekernes in July 2019, also without a transfer fee.

His return from A. Damanhour to Inter City represents the latest step in a career spent entirely within Egyptian football. The move also marks his second change of club since the beginning of the 2025-26 season, following his arrival at A. Damanhour last summer.

Inter City have secured the services of the Egypt-born defender without paying a transfer fee, and his new contract is in place for the 2026-27 season. Shams Mohareb is now an Inter City player until June 2027.
