Al-Taawoun linked with JS Kabylie defender Zineddine Belaid

Algerian centre-back Zineddine Belaid, currently with JS Kabylie, has been linked with a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Taawoun.

Belaid, 27, joined JS Kabylie from Belgian side Sint-Truiden on 23 August 2025 in a transfer reported at €750,000. He remains under contract with the Algerian Ligue 1 club until 30 June 2028.

The defender has made two appearances for Algeria at the 2026 World Cup, although he has not started either match and has yet to register a goal or assist in the tournament.

Belaid previously spent four seasons with USM Alger, where he won the CAF Confederation Cup in 2022-23 and the CAF Super Cup the following season. He moved to Sint-Truiden in July 2024 before returning to Algeria a year later.

Across his career, Belaid has recorded 147 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing four assists. He has also featured in the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League, as well as domestic cup competitions.

The reported interest from Al-Taawoun would represent a possible return to an overseas league for Belaid after his single season in Belgium. For now, he remains a JS Kabylie player, with his contract running through June 2028.
