Real Madrid pushing to seal Yan Diomande deal as RB Leipzig winger manages training load amid talks

Real Madrid remain locked in negotiations with RB Leipzig over the signing of winger Yan Diomande, with discussions continuing but no final agreement yet in place.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany reported that “there is still no final agreement between Real Madrid and Leipzig regarding Yan Diomande, after new negotiations today”. He added that this status was “confirmed by all parties involved”, and that, unless there is an unexpected breakthrough before midnight, talks are scheduled to resume on Friday morning.

According to the same report, the deal is very much alive and Real Madrid are pushing to conclude the transfer this week. The Spanish club are keen to bring in the Ivory Coast international after his breakthrough season in the Bundesliga.

Diomande, 19, is understood to be taking a cautious approach as talks progress. Plettenberg stated that the winger was at RB Leipzig on Thursday, where “he completed training with a managed physical load, to avoid putting the deal at risk”. The intention is to limit any chance of injury while negotiations over his future continue.

The Ivorian only joined RB Leipzig in the summer of 2025 from Spanish side Leganes and quickly impressed in Germany’s top flight, delivering a standout campaign in the Bundesliga. His performances have made him one of the most talked-about young wide players in Europe and prompted interest from several leading clubs.

Competition for signature

Real Madrid are not alone in their pursuit. Paris Saint-Germain are also in the race to sign Diomande, while Liverpool and Manchester City have been credited with an interest in the Cote d’Ivoire forward.

The level of competition underlines how highly Diomande is regarded after just one season at RB Leipzig. However, no club has yet reached an agreement with the German side, and Leipzig are continuing to negotiate from a position of strength given the player’s age and recent impact.

For now, Real Madrid are leading the push and are hopeful of making a breakthrough in the coming days, but with PSG monitoring the situation closely and Premier League clubs attentive, the outcome of the saga remains uncertain.

Diomande’s immediate focus remains on maintaining his fitness under controlled conditions at Leipzig while his representatives and the clubs involved attempt to finalise what would be a major move for one of African football’s rising talents.
