Bellingham future: Father ‘requested Real Madrid exit’ in private talks, Spanish journalist claims
Jude Bellingham’s father asked Real Madrid to explore a possible departure for the England midfielder in a private meeting at the end of last season, according to a Spanish journalist – but the club are said to have responded that he is not for sale under any circumstances.
Pepe Alvarez, described in the Spanish report as a well‐connected journalist, claims that Mark Bellingham – who is both the player’s father and agent – met Real Madrid officials immediately after the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign.
Alvarez says Mark Bellingham informed senior figures at the Bernabeu that his son did not wish to continue with the European champions.
The journalist, posting on social media platform X, reported that the request was linked to “technical” disagreements with members of Real Madrid’s football department. Those differences are said to have left the 21‐year‐old feeling uncomfortable within the set‐up, despite his status as a central figure in the side.
According to Alvarez, Real Madrid’s reply was unequivocal. Club officials are reported to have told Mark Bellingham that Jude Bellingham is not available for transfer in any scenario and that the England international is considered one of the pillars of their long‐term project.
The stance, as described, leaves no room for negotiation, with the club said to have made clear they will not entertain offers “no matter what is on the table”.
Premier League links resurface
The claim has immediately revived speculation over Bellingham’s longer‐term future, particularly with persistent suggestions of Premier League interest since before his move to Spain.
The report notes that major English clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool, have been regularly linked with the former Birmingham City player and are widely viewed as potential destinations should an opportunity to return to England ever arise.
However, Alvarez’s account does not mention any formal approach from these clubs, nor any bid or active talks, focusing instead on the alleged internal conversation between the Bellingham camp and Real Madrid.
Key figure in Real Madrid’s double-winning season
Bellingham joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2023 from Borussia Dortmund in a big‐money transfer and produced an immediate impact in his first season in La Liga.
The midfielder quickly established himself as one of the standout performers in world football, becoming a regular starter and a central component of the team under the club’s coaching staff.
In his debut campaign, Bellingham played a significant role as Real Madrid secured both the Champions League and the Spanish league title, with the England international heavily involved in their major moments across the season.
The Spanish report does not suggest any change in Real Madrid’s internal view of Bellingham’s importance following the alleged meeting, maintaining that the club see him as indispensable and integral to their future plans.
