Zamalek deny receiving offer from Club Africain for Seifeddine Jaziri

Zamalek insist they have received no offer from Tunisian side Club Africain for striker Seifeddine Jaziri, despite reports in Tunisia claiming a bid has been made.

Tunisian state radio had announced earlier on Wednesday that Club Africain had moved to sign the Tunisia international from the Cairo giants during the current summer transfer window.

However, Egyptian outlet FilGoal.com reports that Zamalek officials say no formal approach has arrived from the Tunis club for the 30-year-old forward.

The Cairo side are not opposed to selling Jaziri in this window, but, according to the same report, no official proposal has landed at the club to trigger negotiations.

Jaziri’s contract with Zamalek runs until the summer of 2027.

Confusion over claimed Club Africain bid

The Tunisian radio report stated that Club Africain had “submitted an official offer” for Seifeddine Jaziri, who has been with Zamalek since joining from Arab Contractors and has become a regular with the Tunisia national team.

But Zamalek sources have stressed they have not received any communication or written offer from Club Africain so far, in contrast to the Tunisian claims.

The situation leaves Jaziri’s immediate future uncertain, with interest reported in Tunisia but no concrete move yet acknowledged by his current employers.

Zamalek open to sale as exit nears

Despite the lack of a formal bid, Jaziri is thought to be edging closer to an exit from the White Castle.

The club has been exploring options to market the player for some time, FilGoal.com reports, as part of a broader reshaping of the squad and an effort to ease financial pressures.

Zamalek are understood to be willing to listen to offers for the forward during this transfer window, provided their valuation is met.

Late payment avoids FIFA escalation

Jaziri’s future has come under additional scrutiny in recent weeks after a dispute over unpaid wages.

The striker had lodged an official complaint with world governing body FIFA to claim his overdue salaries, which amounted to seven months of his contract, according to the report.

Faced with a formal warning period triggered by the player’s complaint, Zamalek moved to clear the outstanding amounts.

FilGoal.com says the club paid Jaziri’s arrears before the deadline in the warning notice expired, averting potential FIFA sanctions that could have included contract termination or transfer bans.

The Cairo club also settled overdue payments owed to several foreign players: Juan Pizarro, Chico Banza, Oday Dabbagh and Adam Kaied.

Key figure in recent Zamalek success

Since joining Zamalek, Jaziri has been a significant part of the club’s attacking set-up.

He has made 185 appearances in all competitions, scoring 48 goals and providing 19 assists.

During his time with the club, Zamalek have enjoyed a period of domestic and continental success. With Jaziri in the squad, they have won the Egyptian Premier League three times, lifted the Egypt Cup twice, claimed the African Super Cup once and secured the CAF Confederation Cup once.

Whether he remains to add to that haul now appears to depend on whether any of his suitors – including, potentially, Club Africain – follow up reported interest with a formal offer Zamalek cannot refuse.
