Charel Elombo: Luxembourg-Cameroon striker joins AS Nancy U19 on free transfer
Teenage striker Charel Elombo has joined AS Nancy U19 on a free transfer, with the Luxembourg-Cameroon forward moving up a category from French side Thionville U17.
The 17-year-old, who plays primarily through the middle in attack and is right-footed, links up with Nancy’s under-19 squad ahead of the 2026-27 National U19 Group B campaign. His move continues a steady rise through youth football in France and Luxembourg and places him in one of the more competitive youth environments in the country.
Elombo arrives from Thionville U17, where he spent last season after crossing the border from Luxembourg. He had joined Thionville in the summer of 2025, also on a free transfer, and now steps into a higher age group as he secures his place in Nancy’s academy structure.
Before his spell in France, Elombo came through youth football in Luxembourg, representing Hesperange’s youth setup before switching to Swift U17 in 2024. That pathway has taken him from local youth football in Luxembourg into the French national youth league system by the age of 17.
Born on 8 July 2009, Elombo is eligible to represent both Luxembourg and Cameroon at international level, and his progression into Nancy’s under-19 ranks gives him a new stage on which to develop his attacking game.
The deal sees Elombo complete a permanent free transfer from Thionville U17 to AS Nancy U19, with the move confirmed on 22 July 2026.
