Former Sundowns and Namibia star Peter Shalulile linked with Pyramids FC

Namibian striker Peter Shalulile has been linked with a move to former African champions Pyramids FC ahead of the new campaign.

The experienced forward is currently without a club after parting ways with South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns following the expiration of his contract.

Shalulile enjoyed a highly successful spell at Sundowns, becoming one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier Soccer League and playing a key role in the club’s domestic dominance. His goalscoring record and consistency made him one of Africa’s most respected forwards.

However, after several successful seasons in Pretoria, the two parties decided not to extend their relationship, leaving the Namibia international available on a free transfer.

Pyramids FC have now been mentioned as a potential next destination, with the Egyptian club looking to add more firepower to their attacking department.

The possibility of a move has been strengthened by the presence of Rulani Mokwena as Pyramids head coach. The South African tactician previously worked with Shalulile at Mamelodi Sundowns and understands the striker’s qualities and ability to deliver at the highest level.

Mokwena has informed the Pyramids management of the need to reinforce the team’s attack following the departure of Democratic Republic of Congo forward Fiston Mayele.

Mayele left the club as a free agent, creating a major gap in Pyramids’ frontline after establishing himself as one of their most reliable attacking threats.

The Egyptian side are now searching for an experienced striker capable of leading the line, and Shalulile’s profile fits the requirements of a player who can immediately provide goals and leadership.

The Namibian forward’s familiarity with Mokwena’s tactical approach could also play an important role in any potential negotiations, as both previously enjoyed success together at Sundowns.

During his time with the Pretoria-based club, Shalulile developed a reputation for his movement, finishing ability, physical strength and relentless work rate, qualities that made him a nightmare for defenders across the continent.

A move to Pyramids would also reunite him with African club football, where he has already built a strong reputation through performances in CAF competitions.

While no official agreement has been reached yet, Pyramids’ need for a proven goalscorer and Mokwena’s knowledge of Shalulile could make the Namibian international a serious option for the Egyptian club as they prepare for the new season.
