Caleb Yirenkyi: Ghanaian Nordsjaelland midfielder linked with Chelsea move

Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi of Nordsjaelland is being linked with a move to Chelsea as the Premier League club assess central midfield options ahead of the new season. The 20-year-old, who is under contract with the Danish side until 30 June 2030, has emerged as a potential target after a breakthrough year in the Superliga.

Yirenkyi has established himself as a regular in Nordsjaelland’s midfield, making 29 league appearances and contributing three goals and five assists in domestic action. His performances in the Superliga championship round, where he started the majority of matches, have underlined his growing influence for the Farum-based club.

On the international stage, Yirenkyi featured for Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, playing in all four of his country’s matches and scoring once, while also collecting two yellow cards. He started three-quarters of Ghana’s games at the tournament and was on the pitch for nearly three-quarters of their total minutes, reflecting the trust placed in him at senior international level.

Chelsea’s interest comes at a time when Yirenkyi’s value has risen sharply, with his current valuation standing at €10m, the highest of his career to date. Standing at 1.82m and predominantly right-footed, he operates as a central midfielder and wears the number 36 shirt for Nordsjaelland.

Yirenkyi joined Nordsjaelland’s first team from the club’s youth setup in February 2025, having arrived from Ghanaian academy Right to Dream the previous year. Any move to Stamford Bridge would require Chelsea to negotiate with Nordsjaelland, who are in a strong position to demand a substantial fee given the length of the player’s existing deal.
