Fethallah Tahar: Algerian playmaker joins Olympique Akbou on free transfer

Algerian attacking midfielder Fethallah Tahar has joined Olympique Akbou on a free transfer from CS Constantine, signing a contract until 30 June 2028.

The 32-year-old moves after two seasons at Constantine, where he arrived in August 2024 following a spell with MC Algiers. His switch keeps him in Ligue 1 and gives Olympique Akbou an experienced creative option in the final third.

Tahar has built a substantial top-flight pedigree in Algeria, making more than 200 Ligue 1 appearances and contributing 11 goals and 26 assists. Primarily an attacking midfielder but comfortable working across the midfield line, he offers versatility and is capable with both feet.

His most notable success came with MC Algiers, where he was part of the side that won the Algerian championship in the 2023-24 season. He had joined the capital club from ASO Chlef in April 2021, itself a move that followed earlier stints with RC Relizane and ASM Oran.

Tahar has also gained continental experience, featuring in both the CAF Confederation Cup and domestic cup competitions, adding further depth to Olympique Akbou’s squad profile.

The Algerian’s market value is currently listed at €325,000, and he now embarks on a new chapter with Olympique Akbou after completing his free transfer from CS Constantine.
